Here are a few restaurants I like….try them for yourself and let me know!
One thing comes to mind when I remember my first trip to Mariposa Bakery….Cinnamon Rolls!!! Now for any non gluten free eater, you may be thinking okay…so what? But for those of us who have lacked a sweet, slightly chewy, cinnamon-spiraled delight with just the right amount of icing…Mariposa delivered! And really they DO deliver! Based in Oakland California, this company doesn’t leave the rest of the world wanting for not. They have a prompt mail-order delivery business. I have yet to enjoy all of their sweet and savory mail order goodies!
Located in Eugene Oregon. Shane and Tiffany are masters at making sumptuous foods with a bevy a fine drinks. They started a small plate dinner and it’s wonderful. Tiffany is Shane’s partner in life and restaurant. Together there dinners and weekend brunches are a delight to me! They attend to where they source their ingredients and buy local often. Check out the back porch in the summer months. It twinkles with strings of lights and small intimate dining tables. Families should check out their Pasta Nights!
Located in Portland. However, Greeks on Crete are already jealous. The food at Eleni’s is earthy and well prepared. I loved the 9th Street location.
As many of my family and friends know, this is the restaurant that I would go to for my last meal on earth. Nick makes the best minestrone soup I have ever had. It might be the salt pork, or the way they slowly stir in fresh basil your table side. This place is the way I like to dine, “the best dressed plates and me in my blue jeans”.
Morton’s Bistro- It’s closed! Sad, sad day!
Located in Salem Oregon. West Salem to be exact.
This place was a wonderful find. Located in an old brick building on the ground floor, patrons braved the stairway down to a wonderful restaurant. Morton’s was one of my favorites. I once had smoked fava beans as an appetizer. The Chef was into smoking many things that day. This was the place to go to try some of the Northwest’s notable ingredients: I have enjoyed venison, fresh steamed clams, fiddle heads and more. It shall be missed in the Halls of NW Cuisine.
Located in Seattle, Washington
I’m human. I drool…..especially when I think of this place. The food and the wine are paired so well. Don’t let the small front facade of the restaurant fool you. There is additional seating in the back. Very polished and intimate. I have enjoyed tuna belly infused with vanilla bean and black peppercorn and so much more. The plates are small so that you can share and order several plates. If you go for dinner and leave hungry for more, then head back for brunch. Then leave a comment here, because I have yet to try the brunch menu. I can only imagine!
